Y'know, MNMP, it's not about self-censoring, it's about vetting. I do a bit of online debating, and link sources in so doing, and what I do is if I dead-stop know a fact (man first walked on the Moon in July 1969, say) I won't link at all, I'll just write it.
But if I'm not sure, I will look it up, and go beyond news sources wherever possible. It takes a little more time, but it's worth it in the long run. Not only do I maintain what credibility I have, but I also often learn that I wasn't quite right about something.
So don't self-censor. Self-research, instead. Emotions can be and often are misleading.
