I'm OK. At least in the now. It took a FB post to know that my grandfather on my late biological father's side had passed on (today, I think). He was 86 or 87.
As soon as I saw the post, I just posted (to my account) "..." I've always been one to try to say the right thing. It's what my mother has put a lot of pressure on my to do over the years.
OK, I'm back. Just got interrupted by a phonecall from my mother about said famly loss. I kind of lost where I was going with this.
But I guess for the first 30 min. or so, "..." is kind of how I felt. It happened. He was 86ish. He was a huge personality in my family. He is no longer with us.
I think I kind of remember what I was going to say. He is dead. We will all be dead. Until we are, we have memories of our predeceased. That's a great thing. But I'd be lying if I said I never had moments where I feel like I'd be OK if I were wrong about an afterlife. One where we reunite with our predeceased.
It's fun to think about. But then, we are usually just trying to remember the good things and leave any bad things in the past.
Plus, it's intellectually dishonest to ponder.
Onward.
