Oh, happy, happy, joy, joy.
Finally got home, managed to load the syringe with the (disturbing) goo, then had to hunt around to find the cat (he apparently got an idea I was going to do something he wasn't going to like much) and after I snagged him I commenced to injecting the food in.
Well, he wasn't thrilled with that much, and while not really resisting, he was cooperating at all.
Then at some point, we had quite a mess building up on me, and the cat was relieved I had briefly relented to reload the syringe, and then
we had a magic moment!!
he started licking up the slop that had spilled on me!!
So, realizing the cat liked the stuff, and was willing to eat it it without the syringe apparatus, I spooned out a largish blob onto a little paper plate, and away he went, just about inhaling it. In just a few moments he had nailed half the can. Figured that was a good place to stop, not sure if he is going to be barfy or not.
It's been a while, no barf, and he's sleeping it off now.
Condition wise, the eye shimmy has abated, even his pupils seem to be fairly well matched in size now. He's holding his head at an angle still, right side down about 30 degrees still. Walking while improved, is still punctuated with staggers and falls, although he gets further now.
We've turned the corner, he's getting better, and he's eating now. I'll keep the antibiotics going and we'll head back to the vet on Saturday.
Yay! ???
