Actually, some precautions are very effective at preventing pregnancy. You can dismiss them out of hand if you wish, but that doesn't mean they don't exist, it means their existence makes you uncomfortable enough to enter denial.

As for serious precautions against pregnancy, Depoprovera has one hell of a success rate in preventing pregnancies.
