The IRS cannot release anyone's information except as allowed by Section 6103 of the Code. There is absolutely nothing to stop a citizen from releasing his/her own information. Drumpf's protestations about that simple fact are a lie.
Something he is quite proficient at.
I'm not suggesting that Trump's tax information be released by any third party. I'm wondering if it's within the President's executive authority to decide to suspend or end an ongoing audit. After all, that's been Trump's excuse so far: he won't release his tax returns while his audit continues. Kick that stool out from under him and see if he's true to his word about releasing his information if the audit is not longer happening.
