Skeptics cling to the 'near' part of NDE. The point is that these experiencers do not have functional brains at the time of their experiences. If mental properties emerge as a result of scale and complexity then how are they possible absent the scale and complexity assumed necessary and sufficient for consciousness?
Second, as a former atheist, I do not understand why some people feel it necessary to invalidate the experiences of people like me who came to a different conclusion. Why is it so inconceivable to these atheists? Is this some version of No True Atheist?
