You do get that there are billions of people on the planet that do believe in one of the gay hating gods, right? and you also understand that belief in one of the gay hating gods leads believers to real world negative consequences, right?
Beliefs don't live in a vacuum.
Those are the people that this question is aimed at.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
