My 'rebuttal' is an example of how nonsensical it is that one can 'waste' a resource by using it.
You can't waste other people's money, as if you are using it and can protect your doing so: it is your money in the first place. What you let them keep using is either to keep them from possibly taking money from you or otherwise endangering your safety.
And even if you could use other people's money while it is still theirs... you could not waste it by using it. Waste is necessarily wanton, it is killing a moose and not using what you killed. It is allowing garbage to pile up without using it to build a ski hill. It is dumping food you can't finish in one setting into the trash that is heading for an incinerator to be turned into a toxic sludge that will never be used for anything.
