When we caught our son with porn on his phone at age eleven, I sat down and talked to him about it, from the perspective of the performers (of whom I've met a few), and also from my perspective as a former manager. It doesn't seem to have harmed him, or me, for that matter -- and I was exposed to it five days a week for six years.
I think most of the reaction to porn in America is based on the religious nature of the acculturation most Americans received growing up. I'm a little skeptical of these sorts of studies for that reason.
