Depends.  Is it secular fun or religious fun?

No easy outs here.  If God created EVERYTHING then He'll have to own all the fun too.  Why would God want there to be fun in the world?  Of course we also see it in otters, dolphins, crows and other animals which don't require all their time and energy for subsistence.  Wouldn't God have made us all have to work hard to survive if He wasn't pleased with fun?  Before I was completely free of religious belief I came to the conclusion God was down with masturbation.  (Do you guys see why I don't hate 'God' so much?  The one I imagined wasn't such a bad Guy.)

Ah, but primal animal fun can in no way be compared to human fun, considering that there is the conscious mind at work in the human which is absent in the primal animal.

The consciousness is that which veritably separates us from the true animals, it is what allows us to know the difference between right and wrong.
