I also want to extend this thread to also be what computer do you recomend I buy because I'm thinking about buying a new one.
The main things I use my computer for is for communicating via webcam, music production, watching films on stuff like that.
I want a PC not a Mac, because I have things on my old PC I want to use on the new one I buy.
I'm thinking I might be willing to spend up to 800 pounds/1037 dollars.
I've seen good reviews of these lenovo computers.
You don't need anything special, unless you are trying to run a sequencer with many dozens of sound effects (reverb, delay, distortion, etc.) in a live scenario. I'd recommend building your own computer. Get a really good micro-ATX motherboard, and spend your money on a fast CPU (doesn't need more than 4 cores) and at least 8 Gb of good, fast ram. The mATX built-in graphics card will be fine for the things you want to do, and not buying a GFX card will save you a couple hundred bucks. Maybe spend the money you save on about a 128Gb SSD for nice fast boot times.
I can say from experience that the difference between 4Gb and 8Gb is VERY noticeable, and that I've never yet come into a situation where 16Gb was better than 8Gb, except maybe in very memory-hoggish PC games. With 4Gb, you'll get a pause for paging when you switch between applications if you are running several things at once.
