Why would an atheist insist on religionists following every letter of their particular holy book? That's bad right? ....the baby dashing, kid stoning, daughter selling and she bear mauling of 42 children. That's what you're trying to get at?
You're hoping the cognitive dissonance does the work for you...but might it backfire and push them into total fundamentalism?
How often does admonishing a slacker result in the total transformation of the slacker into a hard working go getter ?
We're pretty safe here in challenging them as I'm betting the endemic slackerism is going to triumph over all.
Had we been several centuries earlier, yeah, there might be some risk of inciting a new crop of fundies, but in this era, the religious folks themselves have done the work for us in diluting the brand to almost nothing as it is. Shaming them the last 5% of the way (to unfaithism) isn't too much to hope for.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.
