No one has ever dedicated their lives to Santa Claus ? Countless children have and will. They will write him letters, tell their secret desires while sitting on some old guys lap at the mall, hope inside Santa knows they are good boys and girls, then thank him on Christmas morning. They will grow up to be parents who tell their own children the Santa tale and take their own kids to the mall to sit on his lap.
The only reasons religious people put more faith in god are because of the vast weight of ancient texts and their assumed authenticity, emotional appeals, peer pressure etc. Otherwise god is just like old St. Nick.
