RE: How can a Christian reject part of the Bible and still call themselves a Christian?

Seeing how people are on this thread despite its age I will add to it too.
My husband is Catholic and I've asked him this before. He said that it is because the bible was man made and can't be guaranteed to be what god wanted to say. Therefore he doesn't believe in the bible itself over all. He did say that the most current pope has said that every good person goes to heaven regardless of belief so I'm not sure of how either him or the pope pulled that outta Christian beliefs but it makes him happy because that means I will be going to heaven with him.
