It's to do with the serial numbers. A01 notes are fetching loads as collectors want the ones which were first off the press, or ones with weird serial references such as 'AK47' (which I think was the one that went for £80k or whatever online).

People will collect anything I guess. I admit to collecting 50ps with unusual images on. People do seem to think they are worth something more than they are through. 99x out of 100 they're worth 50p.
