The problem is the disgusting idea that a guy who's molested & raped his daughter for years which resulted in gaving her herpes and subsequent mental trauma is perfectly OK as soon as he accepts Jesus as his personal savior and will never, ever rape her again. After all, he's a fine, upstanding Christian now. And instead of calling the police upon discovering sexual abuse the best thing a doctor can do is convert the rapist to Christianity.
In other words, as long as everybody's a good Christian we'll just sweep any wrongdoing, no matter how terrible, under the rug. Fuck the victim.
But that is not heresy.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.
