This kind of thing can be true when counting one lifetime or counting one event... for sure, buddhist thought believes in multiple life times, and multiple events.
This is a gradual process, and I've surely witnessed a huge difference between having a closed off heart, and having an opening loving heart (personally).
Having a closed off heart is literally a physical feeling that can be felt with each thought that chooses that way of thinking...
and having a loving heart literally effects the person for each thought where that choice is made, absolutely, without a doubt.
Some laugh at and scorn others, but they miss out on an very pleasurable heaven.

Why we gotta call it magic?? Geez..
The idea of magic is a way to add fun to the experience (and because children like to have fun, adults don't). Some of the great wonderful things about life defy explanation and mathematics, and that is part of why they are great and wonderful.
