Right, I get that the message failed.  I'm just pointing out that since her message did not resonate in the heartland and rust belt, it wouldn't have made a difference for her to visit Wisconson either.  Acting like that was some huge failure and she might have otherwise won is silly.

There's hardly a -chance- for it to have succeeded where she did not deliver it...and it's not as if the places she did deliver weren't close.

But we NEED to end the coal industry, we need to regulate emissions.

We -need- to do that but we can't because our credible alternatives are blocked "for environmental reasons" and the other alternatives aren't as green as people imagine them to be. Solar, for example..is as dirty as it gets (which is a shame because it doesn't -have- to be). Hillary's energy policies, frankly, were political opportunism and fence sitting that contradicted themselves and each other at nearly every point...and they've been so for her entire career.

Her tax policies would still have helped them more than Trumps,

Um, no....so very few people work in coal...even here, in coal country, a coal job is not the norm- it's the holy grail. We work for automotive manufacturers round here...when we can get "good" jobs (read 9 an hour is a luxury, toyota subsidiaries can and do pay minimum wage - see...we stole those from the rust belt on the premise that they could pay us less and we'd be thankful for it)...fast food when we can get -any- job. Lot;s of us work more than one job, plus w have sideline "enterprise" that we do all of our own accord. You know who loves nature, wildlife, workable green policies (and who hatyes being painted as the bad guy every damned time...)? People who actually live in and, to some extent, off the land...rather than visit them on occasion.

so I'm not sure what message she could have sent to appeal to both the social liberals in the cities that want these changes to be made, and the rural folks, who have good (if very short sighted) reasons not to.

The reasons you have imagined for them are probably not a 1 for 1 mirror of the reasons they have, you;re also imagining that there isn't a significant current of social liberalism in rural areas (another criticism we've been made to endure since...forever)

Ilm ot gonna bullshit you, all of our fathers are exactly like the people you imagine us to be...and they vote like you wouldn't believe, there's nothing left for them in life -but- to vote...lol. If it;s any consolation, out here in the country, people don;t live quite as long, due to the shitty ass state of healthcare...out in the country. Your city bound bigots are going to be around for alot longer than their country cousins. You saw that play itself out in florida. Where the college vote went to Trump..because the college vote is fucking 80 years old. They remember when they could get their sandwich quicker at the lunch counter.......
