You know, it may seem I'm fighting you, but I'm not. But that's not sufficient. Sufficient would be a confirmed report about the incident. I'm saying that because hoaxes like that do happen. Or something like that happens but it is blamed on an entirely different reason.
It works from the other side too, as I already said. As in girls claiming to having been raped by refugees, when police reports confirm that they were pulling their leg and simply went with the xenophobic narrative of their environment.
That's why I'm more than careful when posting any incident. I check, recheck and double check before I confirm any story to be true. I also look at the source of the allegations. If it comes from a dubious source and I muster a sufficient amount of interest or am challenged, I look if it gets the same kind or any report on other sources.
Might be because it was my job for the last 27 years, working as a journalist and PR consultant.
