Most of the liberals I've known (and I don't mean all because I've met some nice one's too) are really just very loud and extremely opinionated people that refuse to take criticism or perform any sort of introspection, I don't think people would want their children growing up in that sort of environment.
I always love it when I hear this argument. It's ignoring the fact that most people are like this regardless of political leanings. But hey, it's far more fun to point fingers.
Yes and no. When it comes to politics, people are generally not very open-minded, regardless of their ideology. I'm sure there are studies confirming this, but I don't have the time to do the research. However, there is the idea among modern American liberals that certain ideas should be instantly shut down. For example, there has been a prevailing liberal rhetoric that any criticism against the religion of Islam or the practices of Muslim-majority countries is "Islamophobic," even when the criticism has merit. For that reason, "political correctness" is preventing a legitimate dialogue about Islam from forming. Another example could be the idea that racism only exists when white people do it, which ties into the concept of "white privilege," which claims that only minorities have the right to have opinions on certain social and cultural issues. These are regressive ideals and they go against the roots of true liberalism.
