I like some of it but think they're overrated by many. They weren't as good as their influences. They just happened to come along at the right time and found the ground had already been prepared for their success by their betters.
To their credit, I don't think Nirvana would have argued with much that I wrote above. Cobain was a talented pop song writer who died before he had written himself into the proverbial corner. A shame, really, because that would have been the time his songwriting might have really flourished -- when he felt the need to change it all up just to stay afloat. What if . . . ?
