This isn't rocket surgery. Start with some empathy...I understand that things like the truck attack in France or the Boston marathon bombing make you wary of immigrants. Then move to the emotional plight of refugees, particularly children - Rhythm got into this, but peppered it with insults, so it wasn't effective. Only then do you go into statistics to try to show that the fear is insignificant. And never use the word xenophobic.
