How about sensible gun legislation and a stronger focus on mental health issues and their treatment for starters.

Yeah, we've gone over the whole "illegal" part of illegal immigration ad nauseam here. I find it weird, though, that we're eighteen pages in and this is the first time you've even mentioned the illegal part. You've spent so much time pointing out that you care less about non-Americans and trying to project that onto us that it's strange for you to even bring that up.
