Is atheism a scientific perspective?

Atheism is only a lack of belief in a God, nothing more... Iow, generally someone who is not convinced that there is a God (note: it's not the same as saying God does not exist, although some atheists do take that position). It's that atheists are more likely to be naturalists and base their beliefs on evidence and science is a method based on the natural, evidence etc instead of speculation and faith.
