It's been stated before on this thread, but the words of a few dead men don't validate any sect of religion. I would believe that this exposes the fact that all religions are flawed in one way or another. Catholicism is the most formal church only because it was the first church to be organized around the belief in this "Messiah."
To talk more about the Catholic Church, it's one of the most corrupt positions on earth. As the Pope, you have influence over almost all corners of the earth, and not just religiously. Believe it or not, the Catholic Church has a vast reach of political influence. Since there are people who believe so heavily, they'll do anything to appease their delusion. Take the selling of Indulgences during the Middle Ages for example. But that's a story for another time.
And talking about the first "Pope", the writers of the new testament, historically, couldn't have existed during the time of Jesus. Aside from the gospels, which requires faith to take as fact, we have no true evidence for Jesus. However, we can prove the early Catholic leaders. This proves the Theocracy, not the religion.
