"Political correctness " Seems to be one of those pithy terms used by thinking people describe humbug and by the less reflective to describe just about any change with which they disagree.
My observation is that is that political correctness is often embraced as a sweeping, mindless cliche by cynical politicians, lazy journalists, petty bureaucrats, and bourgeois tossers threatened by any change to the status quo.
I'm suspicious of cliches and slogans at the best of times. Issues of social justice is one of those times. In my opinion each instance of each issue needs to be examined independently, with justice actually being done, rather than simply appearing to be done. Decisions should not be permitted to be made by anyone with a vested interest.
