That is a goal of the end of mission trajectories.
Cassini will be at altitudes above Saturn's cloud tops but below the lower edge of the ring system. By having the craft above and below, so to speak, of the rings, their mass can be teased out by careful analysis of the trajectory of Cassini around Saturn.
Additionally, some pics are planned of the night side equatorial area, perhaps some streaks of light of ring detritus burning up will be seen.
