When yoga started about 7000 years ago nobody write down anything.
Nobody knew how to write and the writing was not there yet so the religious books that did not exist could not possibly be the source of anything how some fool suggest.
It was the guru or spiritual teacher that show the system how to get closer and eventually merge in the ocean of cosmic consciousness.
The same thing goes on today and will go on for ever.
When the student is ready the teacher will appear no matter who you are where you live or any other
thing that may eventuate.
The knowledge must be given to anyone who is really interested no matter what.
By following the guru teaching is obvious that come apparent who the previous masters and teachers were.
