If I met an adult in our society who genuinely believed in the tooth fairy, I'd think there is something pretty wrong with them. Whether being crazy, or childish, or just stupid. Because it is not a belief that is held by the people of our society.
As I said, I don't believe Buddha was a God, just as I don't believe the tooth fairy is real. But the fact that one is a commonly held belief and the other is not, changes things about the type of people who would believe in those.
Then I am comparing god believers to the tooth fairy believers that I think are not crazy at all. You are the one assigning the "crazy" label to the tooth fairy believers while I am not. If anyone is disrespecting believers, it's not me.
Ok then lol.
I have never encountered an adult who believed in the Tooth Fairy. But if I did, I'd think "there's something wrong with you." Because in our society, belief in the Tooth Fairy isn't a "normal" thing done by "normal" people. I actually have never even heard of ANY people believing in her, except little kids. But if you're being completely honest that you would not think anything was very "off" about a grown man or woman who said they believed in the Tooth Fairy, more power to you I suppose.

Would you be surprised to learn that most Buddhists would totally agree with you?
Well that's good. Not really the point of my post though.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."
