My friend says he doesn't believe in global warming because god is in control. My problem with that is that historically, god has a way of letting things happen unchecked. Then when people die it's always their own fault. God is never to blame.

The god who allows children to be raped out of respect for the free will choice of the rapist, but punishes gay men for engaging in mutually consensual sex couldn't possibly be responsible for an intelligently designed universe.
