But do the various religions know that.... and do the nonreligious know that it's never been seen codified anywhere (not even Sumeria of old) that religion has no possibility of having had a part in it?
Sure, the religion of Sumer is dead... as is in Egypt... as are all of the Gods in and of China.... but that doesn't mean that there was no religion, that the people of various ancient cultures did not worship. Worship has always been found in ancient cultures that survived in a sufficient enough form that we are aware of the golden rule's relative existence in such.
Does anybody know that the Golden Rule is made of Pyrite and rusts?

That's a very free approach and all... but just cuz the law don't have codifyin don't mean you ain't gonna die if you didly someone's girl.

Well, actually... the thread's been raised already, and there are on-topic and relevant discussions to be had. Sure, a new thread *could* be started, but as nobody has specifically responded to the shadows of the past that cannot speak: it should be just fine.
My 2c. If mods disagree, then locking the thread is at their discretion. The real reason that threads are being necroed may well be a decline in overall forum activity (I wouldn't know if it's just a perception thing or if it's real... but then, I'm not close to anybody who could tell me)... at which point I'd say 'what harm is it doing, and is there any benefit to closing the thread'. I'd say it's a mistake to close this, as there's an interesting topic on hand regarding ethical basis, but I'm not invested enough to be upset.
