I can understand why viewership has gone down- it no longer feels like everything could go wrong at any time.
Going to Alexandria and staying so long removes a sense of tension for me. I liked the prison, but I didn't feel the need to dive into Alexandria- I wish they'd stayed on the road for two or three seasons before setting up shop elsewhere. But I know the show wanted to dive into the Negan storyline sooner rather than later, so that the comic storylines didn't get too far out of reach.
