One being that the EU needs to be reformed and not abolished and secondly because no country is an island in this day and age. Neither economically nor socially. The times when any country was self sufficient have long gone. And being alone makes it even easier for the ones in power to get away with everything. Such as May dreaming about leaving parts of the human rights convention behind. That will target british citizens first and foremost. Not the ones she's meeting at one of her country clubs, but John and Jill from the pub around the corner.
Nigel Farage and people like him have been campaigning for the UK to leave the EU for years. They obviously didn't take him seriously enough at the time but they could have reformed the EU ages ago to prevent this even happening in the first place. I somewhat agree that reforming and staying in it would be definitely be ideal. However I fear that they have left it far too late. Other countries may follow in our footsteps because, you know, nationalism and all that.
So yes, I'm against the current form of the EU as well but I very much doubt the higher-ups will ever get around to actually doing anything about it. It just seems like Britain is screwed either way to be honest with you.
Maybe I'm just cynical or something. Who knows? I've had enough of most politicians, that's for sure.
