The following is in reference to this rule in the BJU student handbook (also in the OP):
The way that rule is stated in the handbook - it makes it sound like the rule is "optional". It is not. My brother was telling me about a young friend of his who graduated a couple years ago from BJU ... Sean.
Sean said that students caught wearing Abercrombie and Fitch were immediately given demerits and told to cover the logos with tape. Well, this created a whole new problem for the school. You see, Abercrombie and Fitch is an expensive brand name and many students could not afford that particular label anyway. However, like Sean, they could afford a role of duct tape.
LOL! In no time at all, a large portion of the student body could be seen with "Abercrombie & Fitch" brands all over the campus. Sean told my brother, "It was the greatest thing that ever happened to my wardrobe ... I suddenly had a closet full of designer pants and shirts. I never could afford their clothes, now all I had to do was just find a new place to throw on a small piece of tape." "Everyone I knew had a role of duct tape."
LOL ... Brilliant!
BJU Student Handbook Wrote:Abercrombie & Fitch and its subsidiary Hollister have shown an unusual degree of antagonism to biblical morality.
Therefore, BJU asks its students not to patronize these stores, wear their clothing or display articles containing their names or logos.
