You keep mentioning the extreme left as though they are a thing in the US, they really aren't. In Europe your "left wing" parties would be considered right wing.
The US has drifted so far to the right in recent years that you can no longer recognise how far its gone, at this point your right wing is what we would consider extremists and your extreme right wing are now literally Nazis, with the Hitler salutes and chanting Hail Trump, the lot. And they believe Trump is the Nazi they've been waiting for, and they could be right.
