What examples of the restrictions can you give?
I'll put up the relevant webpage here. Now I've never owned a gun myself but I do know quite a few people who own guns legally, and the measures described in the linked page are strictly enforced.

Wrong, in the language of the time a "well regulated militia" meant that it was a militia authorised by the civil legal authority and subject to it's regulation.
