Slavery was also once legal, just because something can be made a law does not make it a good idea.
Remember that stupid argument when the next mentally ill with no record at time of buy, like the Va Tech shooter murders 32 people. Remember that the next time someone with Autism gets a hold of their parents firearm because the parent is too stupid to realize it is a bad idea to have in the house.
Regulations are not illegal to make, even SCALIA himself said it was not a free for all.
"Like most rights, the Second Amendment right is not unlimited. It is not a right to keep and carry any weapon whatsoever in any manner whatsoever and for whatever purpose: For example, concealed weapons prohibitions have been upheld under the Amendment or state analogues. The Court’s opinion should not be taken to cast doubt on longstanding prohibitions on the possession of firearms by felons and the mentally ill, or laws forbidding the carrying of firearms in sensitive places such as schools and government buildings, or laws imposing conditions and qualifications on the commercial sale of arms."
EVEN HE SAID IT IS NOT A FREE FOR ALL.
No sorry, in a political pluralistic society, not getting everything you want all the time, is not oppressing you. No point in voting if we only do what one minority sect of society wants. NRA members only number 5 million, that is not even the majority of gun owners.

According to that article 55 million Americans own firearms. That still is bigger than the 5 million firearm owners who belong to the NRA. So the NRA is NOT representative of the majority of firearm owners.
So the reality is, we have a small minority holding the nation hostage.
