What WERE all those animal sacrifices for, anyway? God liked the smell of burning animal flesh (it's mentioned almost 40 times), sure, but was that all there was to it?

They were foreshadowing the sacrifice of Jesus.

So millions of animals were slaughtered to give away the plot to God's novel? Him liking the smell of burning animal flesh is a more sensible motivation.

Maybe a culture inured to animal sacrifice is more likely to interpret tragic deaths as their god taking a sacrifice.

Doing it "god's way" only ends up being doing it one's own way, because god is nothing more than the reflection of one's own subconscious.

We pretty much DO have it made. Our main problem is that we live in a world where everyone else thinks the ruler of the universe shares their opinions.
