What he is saying that you will be able to separate the ones who just claim to have faith from the ones who really do have faith by their works. If someone claims to faith, but has no good works then they are lying.
So if someone didn't claim faith, but they had good works, no one can ever tell if they're good works from God or not? Why exactly are people able to do good works anyway outside of salvation? It doesn't sound right if the only difference is that every good work performed by a non-Christian is tainted by sin.
