Without the Shedding of Blood There is No Remission of Sin
RE: Without the Shedding of Blood There is No Remission of Sin
Thinking about why "without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins"...

I think there are 2 possible explanations:

1. God is a Blood Mage.
You know, forgiveness of sins is a complex operation. It takes Blood Magic to cleanse a man of sin.

Explanation:
"Sin" is not simply a "mistake" or "wrongdoing" that can simply be forgiven. Sin is actually an essence, an actual thing that we can't see but God cannot ignore. Sin is like "stains" on our spiritual clothes, while God is the guy with a stamp holding a certificate of cleanliness with our name on it. He can't just stamp "clean" on it, and let us enter his private Cloud of Holiness with all his holy friends in it, because angels will complain that our spirits "stink". God can't just tell them "No they don't." because the angels would smell our odours anyway and they would look bad at God for "not being holy and fair" but allowing "stinking people" among "clean ones". Throughout the ages God was thinking what to do about it - He needed to bring new people in, people who worshipped him, because he was loosing popularity in Heaven and it was but 10 thousand years until the next democratic election - he couldn't risk losing to the opposition. Especially, Satan, she was pretty hot, and God worried that many angels were going to vote for her just because of her looks. With his popularity in Heaven in decline, he needed us because he knew that we would vote for him as soon as he made us citizens of Heaven.

So God surveyed what we were doing on earth. He saw that the stains of our physical clothes wash away with detergent, so he thought that there surely must be something to wash away "sin". And after many millennia he found the cure: Blood Sacrifices - the blood of a goat garners sufficient energy from the universe, also called mana, which God can harness and use it to cleanse our tarnished spirits, the more blood spilled, the better the cleaning. Now we can enter the Cloud of Holiness and become full citizens, with the right to vote. We can make God great again!

Of course, not all angels liked the idea that we were going to migrate to Heaven. Some angels called it that the "barbarians" were invading them, others cried out, "Christians, go back to your Earth!" Some cried out "They are taking our jobs!" while others complained, "These faithful Christians have come here in Paradise and do nothing! They simply live on social security, expecting to be treated like kings, while we, the true citizens of Heaven, have to work hard every single day FOR THEM." There was little they could do, other than wait for the next election and hope for the best. It was difficult, though, for even though Satan's party has seen increased popularity among the angels throughout the past centuries, now the migrants also had to be taken into account. And God also started a sly propaganda down on Earth, where he knows the people to be more gullible: He managed to convince people that Satan is a terrible person, and even that she was going to throw them all in hell and torture them forever if she wins the election. He even went as far as to demonise her and to call her "The Devil" and said that she and Obama have murdered countless innocent people in Syria in cold blood.

2. God wanted to kill his son.

So God wanted to kill his son, but it was difficult to do it without stirring a lot of attention and blame from everyone around - "WUT, you did THAT? How could you!" kind of thing. So, like every moral supernatural being, he started searching for a pretext. He looked around and saw that all peoples were bringing blood sacrifices on the altars, for their own gods. So God thought, "If every other god receives such a treatment, why shouldn't I?" So God sent Jesus on the earth to preach "salvation" and "repentance". Unbeknownst to him, his father had other plans with him. To his amazement, Jesus Christ found himself being crucified by the very people he was trying to save. So he called out, "Oh God, why have you forsaken me?", but his father did not answer. Later on people found out that it was God who had planned this all along. Before they got to scowl at him, God retorted to them "It is all YOUR fault. It is YOU who kept on sinning and required forgiveness." The people didn't find it a very responsible answer. So God went on, "I did it out of love. I did it so you could live forever." That convinced the common folk, who found it reasonable that Jesus Christ should've been killed, because they were bringing human sacrifices to their gods to appease them anyway. And they relished the news that they will no longer see death, because they chose to believe. And like every good story, they lived happily ever after, and nobody died ever since.
