present a group of folks with 2 + 2 = ?
and you're going to get a bell shaped curve of answers. Some folks will say 4. Some answer more than 3. And a few will inquire if it's a trick question. My friends boyfriend is going to answer truthfully and completely the answer is "asparagus". And he can pass a polygraph with that answer.
That's his truth, his world won't allow any other answer, and he'll die knowing he was right. And that is precisely what he did.

Hard to not consider it an assisted suicide, but it wasn't. He just wasn't compatible with how this world works.
In another timeline/reality/universe he might have been Jesus or Buddha. Here he just wound up dying slowly and painfully while declining medical care that could have saved him. He even acknowledged his illness (a rare but treatable cancer) but couldn't work out in his head that accepting the proven treatment was the right answer and it would cure him. And he wasn't into alternative quack stuff either.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.
