That can be a barometer, if you will, for how rapidly modern era religiousosity is declining in it's self inflicted decrepitude. AF is literally a front row seat to "God" dying of thousands of paper cuts inflicted by his best followers.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.
