I did not add to, delete, modify, or change any of the content or her original post. Not a single word.
And I actually made it a point to post BOTH the original and unedited posts, in an effort to be fair.
What you're claiming is that I "added" to her words, by quoting nothing but her precise words. That's clearly playing fast and loose with the rules Losty; you're smart enough to know that. It is NOT misquoting someone to print/repeat someone's EXACT WORDS, regardless of the subject later deciding to change his/her tune. That is the truth, despite your insistence otherwise.
Now of course, the staff's deeply questionable interpretation of the rules as they apply to the so-called violation is the only one that matters, certainly. But, the capturing and quoting of posts that are later edited happens frequently enough in this place, with no concern and no action taken; The general consensus appearing to be that there's no reason to expect that a respondent should bear any responsibility in a poster's decision to backpeddle, mislead, or even simply edit misinformation/grammar, once it lands on the Main Forum.
"Too bad, so sad" certainly seems to be good enough for any other user around here.
The fact that I knew the post had been edited shouldn't even enter into the equation. As far as I know, there's nothing in the rules disallowing the employment of stealth or "sneakiness".
She posted it, and it showed up on the Main Forum, right and proper, fair and square.
I COULD suggest that staff add a rule that specifically forbids the practice of simply quoting posts which have been edited, because there's nothing about that in the rules either. And, we all know that could stand to get rather messy.
With all that being said, I do accept the decision at it stands. I don't make the rules. But, I retain the right to say that the application of the rule in question reeks of "special" consideration geared towards Mrs. Tiberius.
I can live with that. The staff should be able to, as well.
