Alas, I've pulled this conversation far away from the intended thread topic so I'm going to duck out. Feel free to have the last word.
But, you can treat others as you want to be treated. Which includes some tough love from a person who has been there, or a straight up boot to the ass when someone makes everyone a victim in a given situation by holding on to grief 20 years after the fact.
I certainly don't want to be treated as a victim and I am 100% sure anyone else who experienced this in real life does not want to be revictimized by those who mean well when they assign them victim status and pity.
