I haven't tried, but it would be madness if you couldn't buy tickets at the airport S-Bahn station, of all places. Since Schönefeld is in zone C, you'll have to buy the full zones ABC 7-day ticket I presume, but that's only a few Euros more. Or you buy one trip to Mitte or whereever and buy a more limited 7-day ticket there if you don't need to go to the C zone after that.
Well according to their journey planner the single use ticket is €5.90 and the one week ABC zone card is €37.50 which you can buy online and only (as far as I can see from the website). So I'm thinking I'll buy the seven day ticket (or even two) online as I'll use them well over the course of my stay.
Edit: Do you know what, I just emailed BVG using the email they have on the site with my questions. With any luck I'll get a reply during next week.
