While I don't care for the TV shows you mentioned I can agree that the show is a bit over hyped. I had a love hate relationship with the books and the show isn't any different. There are good things and bad things about it and I do watch it when I can (I'm like two seasons behind) but I wouldn't say someone is crazy for not watching it cause it's not that great.
