You have a humanitarian crisis of historic proportions in your own country and we get a "meh, they have debt with wall street" from the president with 5 days delay and minimal media coverage, FEMA doesn't get command to act and there's a general level of indifference in the air. What is this shit even.
It's startling. There's such little coverage in the mainstream media, it seems. I listen mainly to NPR, and they're covering it well, and it seems heartbreaking to me.
More than a few people think this is going to be Trump's Katrina.
I personally wonder if Trump doesn't give a fuck about them because they're, well, Puerto Ricans and therefore not Real Americans.
I think that given the unusual logistics challenges, they need to assign a two-or three-star general officer from the USAF or Navy. They've got food in warehouses which cannot be distributed due to the lack of fuel for the trucks. People are without power even from generators for the same reason. It won't be long before potable water is scarce. Unless our government kicks it into overdrive, we are going to see what is already a disaster get many times worse.
