I'm not buying the supposed entreaties from the NRA regarding restricting bump stocks.
Clear enough to me at least they are going to have it both ways:
in public they might be making statements that are viewed as tentative first steps regarding regulation, but behind the scenes anyone seriously think their lobbyists and money are going to be directed any differently than they have been in the past ??
See, the folks running the NRA are WAY smarter than the Dems in congress. They can voice anything they want and let their actions carry out their actual policies and the morons in congress ain't never going to get ahead of them because they just don't have the brain lobes to do so.
Case in point:
just yesterday Nancy Pelosi said this when asked about opening the door to more gun restrictions: "So What? They are going to say you give them bump stock it's gonna be the slippery slope ?? I certainly hope so !!"

How much money did Nancy just make for the fucking NRA there?? Wayne Lapierre won't even have to bother with sending out an appeal with her quote for more money because even now NRA types are mailing checks TODAY so the NRA will hold the line.
Her fucking polling positives are in the mid single digits, what kind of an effect can she possibly think her stupid fucking remarks are going to have??

We need an ancillary rating system like the WaPo's Pinocchio Awards. I think they otta be called Nancies and they will rate how cringe inducing a given pols statements are.
And we are going to use Nancy for this as she has calibrated the fucking scale. Her slippery slope oral diarrhea remark gets a full 5 Nancy rating, and establishes the upper limit of the ratings.
