My pessimism springs from observing humans. Give me something that was ought to be great; and a human must come to ruin it by spreading negativity and selfish ideas.
Is that why you think the industrial age came about, or is that another metaphor? Maybe you should get out and observe more humans, or a different bunch of them. It really shouldn't be too hard to find good people doing good things...even in the shittiest of circumstances. If you're committed to pessimism, however, you might not find good people doing good things if they were dancing on the tip of your nose...so there's that.
Just one example: Telescopes witnessed the crazy growth we see today, And their begining wasn't quite for peaceful reasons:
Quote:Early telescopes were primarily used for making Earth-bound observations, such as surveying and military tactics.https://www.loc.gov/collections/finding-...-telescope
I did find good people in my short lifetime; but the majority preferred to shed a blind eye for many of the disasters around them. It's always a few very bad group, that does all bad because of a silent majority. To find a group or even a somebody that stands and say no to wrong things; is so quality and so rare.
