No it isn't. I don't work either. I also don't have sex either.
Now, if you are mooching to the point family or friends are being drained that is one thing. But if you need the support and others willingly give it to you and they have the means, never feel bad about that.
The only "pathetic" people to me are scam artists, cons. I have seen plenty of people wearing suits whom don't hesitate to fleece people below them and don't feel a lick of guilt about it.
We have a grifter occupying the White House right now, and that moron has been through several marriages. I am sure whatever job you could get, you'd be more honorable and moral than 45.
It is not so much what you do for a living, or whom supports you, but always more about how they treat you and how you treat others. And as long as you don't fuck others over financially and they give to you and you help out in return, it is nobody's business how you live your life.
